I was shocked to receive a romantic handwritten love letter and lilies scented perfume along with a set of gold jewelry from my Alpha mate of nine years, Blake Holmes, on our anniversary. He was the Alpha of our pack, the White wolves pack and he ran the pack loosely. When I received his gifts, I was so excited that I posted it on Facebook. However, his ‘ideal mate’ commented, [How can someone treasure what I rejected?] As soon as I saw that comment, I started investigating her on social media and found out that he had bought her a car – a new model BMW right after buying me a second-hand golf. I also found out that he had given those gifts, but she rejected them, so he gave them to me. I was so heartbroken that I cried and sobbed. Wiping my tears away, I decided to take the love letters back to her. So I got her address online and walked there since it was only a few blocks away from our house. I rang the doorbell and she finally opened the door after I rang it multiple times. I was devastated to see Blake standing beside her with the first few buttons of his shirt open and lipstick marks on his neck. It seemed that I caught them sleeping together. A frown fell on Blake's brows and he groaned. He didn't waste any time putting the blame on me as he yelled, “You thought you've caught us in the act? Well, you didn't because I'm just here because of pack work. If Hailey and I were together, I wouldn't even look at you to even ask you to be my mate.” The truth was so obvious and I felt the urge to growl at him for being a douchebag, but I held it in. If this was a year ago, I would have thrown accusations his way and fought with him until he admits that I was right. However, I have changed now. So instead of throwing a tantrum, I threw the love letters at his chest, and tore the bracelet that he gave me on the day that he asked me to be his mate from my wrist and also threw it at his chest. “I hope you mark each other soon and live happily ever after.” I said in a steady voice. The mates bracelet hit his chest and slid down to the floor. He didn't hold back his growl and let it rumble from his throat. He kicked the bracelet, making it slide across the floor and hit the wall of the doorway resulting in the clasp breaking. It felt like he kicked my heart and stomped on it. He growled, “I won't mark you as mine if you keep getting in my business. Stay out of my way from now on. Hailey and I need to talk about important issues regarding work. So why don't you leave and think about what you've done?” Even though he was putting the blame on me and acting like he was innocent like he usually did, I felt relieved. As soon as I left the house, I called Blake's Mom and told her how he cheated on me then announced that I was going to reject him. She called him and told him. Even though he stopped calling me a long time ago, he called me while on the call with her to have a group call. As soon as I answered the call, he called his sister, his Dad, my Dad and brother. “Hey everyone, I've been so busy with pack business and a hardworking warrior has been helping me with guarding the pack territory and preventing rogue attacks.” He said in a bored tone of voice. Before I could say anything, he quickly started pointing fingers at me as he said, “Amber, you can't just have angry outbursts just because I couldn't buy you a diamond jewelry set for our mating anniversary, and instead bought you a gold one instead.” “I even forgave you for staying out late until 10:00 pm that day that you went out with your friends on a girls night out and strange he-wolves brought you home in their car.” He added in a pitiful voice. Immediately, everyone started talking at the same time, but then they quieted down as Dad said, “What kind of a spoilt daughter did I raise? Blake is an Alpha, yet you're acting like you're better than him. Well, he's better than you, and you to repent to him.” I was made speechless by his words, and his next words shocked me even more. “If you don't stay as Blake's and let such a great Alpha mark you as his mate, don't bother calling me your father again.” I gasped as I felt my heart clench in pain, “Dad, no…” He didn't wait to hear anymore of what I had to say and hung up. The rest of the family started talking at the same time again and I hung up too. I wanted to call Dad and explain to him what really happened, but from my past experiences with Blake's scheming, I knew he wouldn't listen. My Mom passed away when I was only seven years old, so her death hit my Dad pretty hard and it changed him into a very angry man. Not receiving love and care from my father like it should be pushed me straight into Blake's arms when he showed up, filling my ears with his sweet words and careful pampering. However, that all changed over the years that we've been together and I found out that he was very fake. He has pretended to be loving, and now, his love and care was all towards Hailey Keith. His good behavior was for those that were not close to him until now while his ice cold attitude, biting and snarky comments were for me. He loved mocking and taunting me, but what he enjoyed doing the most was making me pissed off in front of pack members. He wanted them to see me crumble while angrily demanding answers from him and he will act like he was a good mate by showing that he listens to me and puts the past behind us. The pack members see me as a slow, deranged she-wolf. However, now, he had misjudged me. Only those who refuse to move on make a fuss. A flame that's extinguished cannot be rekindled by Blake again.

I was feeling down, so I knew that going for a run would do me good. I made my way out of the house and started shifting into my wolf form. As soon as I was fully shifted, I raced into the woods beside the pack house. I howled, feeling excited as I ran faster. I had a power of fast speed so I was running very fast. I felt peace as the wind brushed through my fur and my feet directed me to wherever the wind called me as it whistles in my ears. However, my peace was disturbed when I heard a growl. I stopped running and looked around to find out where the growl came from. Five wolves walked out of the bushes and surrounded me. I didn't recognize any of them, so I knew that they weren't our pack members and from the feral look in their eyes, I could tell that they were rogues. One of them shifted into his human form and growled at me again. He looked rough with his hair and beard looking unruly. “Come with us quietly or we'll kill you right here.” He grunted as he glared at me. Did they want to drag me away from the pack territory to rape and kill me so that the Alpha wouldn't come after them? Well, from how Blake's been behaving, I doubt he would go after them once he finds out they attacked me. I shifted into my human form and growled, “I'm not going anywhere with you. Leave me alone or I'll make you regret trying to kidnap me.” I heard some rogues eat other werewolves, so maybe they also wanted to eat me. I shuddered at the thought and shook my head. I would never let them defeat me. “Then we'll kill you right here!” He yelled and quickly shifted back to his wolf form. They attacked me all at the same time and I was prepared. I stretched my hands out and used my mind powers to make them feel the force of the air around them hit them, so they all fall back on the ground. It gave me enough time to shift into my wolf and before I knew it, two of them got up and jumped on me. One bit down on my hind leg while the other bit down on my shoulder. I shifted into my human form as I summoned my mind power of control and my eyes glowed golden. I stared into the eyes of the wolf that bit my shoulder and his eyes started flowing golden too. “Get off me.” I said the command in a low tone of voice. He got off me and I commanded one again, “Fight him until he runs away.” He moaned in response and turned to the wolf still biting my leg. He growled at him, making him let go of my leg and look up then he pushed him off me and started fighting him. My mother came from a strong line of ancient werewolves that had magic in their blood, so that was how I was able to have such powers unlike most werewolves. The rest of the wolves growled and rushed to attack me, but I stared into the eyes of one as I whispered the command, “Stop them and protect me.” He jumped in front of me, stopping them from getting to me and growled at them. They looked confused, but they growled back. I looked into the eyes of another of rogue wolf and commanded, “Leave.” He turned and ran away. When the one that I haven't used mind control on saw that, he jumped on the one protecting me and they started fighting. They didn't stop fighting until the one that wasn't being controlled got up and ran away. The one that bit my leg also got up and ran away. The remaining two that were being controlled by me shifted into their human form, looking as rough as the other one that I saw in his human form. “It is done, mistress.” They both reported at the same time. “Good. Now, leave the pack territory.” I commanded as my eyes glowed a brighter golden. “Yes, mistress.” They both answered and shifted into their wolf form then raw away. “That was close.” I muttered to myself and glanced down at my leg to see that it has already healed. Only the blood remained. I would have to wash it away once I get home. I shifted back to my wolf form and ran back home. Blake walked into the house, holding a torn piece of his love letters while I was sitting peacefully on the couch and watching TV. With his voice dripping with disdain, he said, "You can't even make a simple cup of tea? Are you still angry? I wrote you those love letters you've always wanted. Now stop being dramatic." He flung the crumpled letters at my feet. I'd often admire women carrying handwritten love letters, their smiles betraying a deep contentment. I confided in Blake, sharing my longing for such gestures, but he'd brush it off, his dismissive nature a stark contrast to the love I craved. He lashed out, "I regret ever getting involved with someone as shallow as you. You contribute nothing, but laziness, spending your days vegging out on the couch, glued to TV. Do you even deserve any luxury?" His hypocritical words cut deep. The same man who seduced me to stop working in the pack office with promises of a lifelong bond now branded me sluggish and loving luxury too much. His true intentions were now obvious; I was merely a servant, not a mate. He couldn't give me even a heartfelt word or modest gift yet he gave Hailey a car, love letters, and jewelry. After I came back from my run, I scrolled through Facebook and came across Hailey's video. They had a candle light dinner as he read love poetry to her and they grinned as they stared into each other's eyes. After she tore those love letters apart, he bought love poetry letters from a company that writes and delivers love poetry letters. He gave many to her and then gave only one to me. I gazed at the love poetry letter in disgust and ripped it to shreds. I glanced at him as I said in a firm voice, “I wouldn't settle for filthy, worn-out stuff, and I certainly won't settle for filthy, worn-out love.”

第3章

As soon as Blake heard my words, his face twisted into a scowl as he growled, “How dare you speak to me like that, Amber?! Remember that I'm your Alpha and your mate, you live in my pack, so I mean everything to you!” Telling him off was the best option. In the years that we've been together, I've always done my pack duties as Luna and a member of the pack. Even while I was working at the pack office, I would clean the pack house and do laundry for all pack members living in the pack house on certain days. I never asked him to take me out of doing those duties after I became his Luna mate. However, I wasn't able to tell him off as the doorbell rang. I walked over to the front door and pulled it open. The delivery man for Wendy's handed me the white cake box and I closed the door. Blake looked confused for a second then a thoughtful look showed on his face and he murmured, “Don't tell me today is your birthday.” It was indeed my birthday and I was turning 34. It was also our 9th mating anniversary, yet he still hasn't marked me. I didn't know why, but now, I suspected that it has something to do with Hailey. I have spent the whole day sewing a nice dress with the intention of wearing it when Blake took me out for my birthday and our anniversary dinner like we did every year after he came back home from the pack office. Haunted by regret, Blake took the cake box from my hand then pulled the cake out and set it on the center table as he rushed out, "I've been swamped with trying to keep rogues out of our territory recently. I want to make amends. Why don't we go shopping this evening so that you can select a new diamond mates bracelet?” I sat down and he followed, sitting beside me on the couch, his loving attitude returning. “Amber, you don't have to worry about Hailey. I mean, we used to be mates when we were just teenagers, but that was ages ago and I'm over her now.” He added in a soft voice. Was he really over her? There was a time when we had just become mates and he introduced me to his family. I stood up to go to the bathroom and overheard their conversation with my heightened werewolf hearing when I was about to enter the bathroom. They asked him what happened with Hailey and he replied, “I can be with anyone, just not her.” I thought that meant he was over her, but I could now see that I was fooling myself. As I thought about my relationship with Blake, I noticed that it wasn't what I expected it to be. Agreeing to become Blake's mate has been the worst thing to have ever happened to me and I had to put a stop to this problem. I glanced at him as I replied in an uncaring tone of voice, “Don’t worry about it. Just go wherever you want to go, you don't need to worry about it.” A shocked look appeared on Blake's face at my response. However, after years of me biting my tongue, he had become accustomed to my silence. It seemed that he believed that I had put what he had done behind us and grinned as he picked up the knife from the table and cut a slice of cake. “Here, have a bite.” He murmured as he handed me the plate that he had placed the cake on and added a fork on it. I always tried to stay away from cake and any dessert related food because I wanted Blake's love. But now, I was willing to eat the whole cake because I wanted to live a happy life far away from Blake. As I made my decision, I took a bite of the cake and savored the taste. I finished the slice and cut a bigger slice. I was so concentrated on eating the cake that I didn't notice when Blake left. I looked around and found the dress that I had spent all day sewing had fallen to the ground and had a dirty footprint on it like someone had matched it. He was trying so hard to get away from me that he had pushed over my dress and stepped on it on his way out. I picked the dress and placed it in the washing machine. My phone beeped, indicating a notification coming through. I glanced at the screen to see that it was from Facebook. Hailey has posted a video, and I clicked on it to see her saying, “Hey, guys! You have no idea what happened today. I’m such a scaredy little cat! I was afraid of a spider. Good thing my savior will always rescue me.” The video ended and I saw her next post which was tagged in. It was actually Blake's post from his second account which I had no idea he had. The post was a reply to her post and it was also a video of him saying, “I’ll always rescue you even if it's from fire breathing dragons.” He never replies to my post even after I posted that I was attacked by rogues. I commented on the post, [You did good.] Immediately, he texted me, [ Hailey was traumatized by a spider in her house, so I'm taking her to the pack hospital to see a psychiatrist. You need to help her, so come over and do her laundry. By the way, make some chicken soup for her and bring it to us at the pack hospital. Remember not to add onions inside the soup.] That was when it hit me. Blake always liked onions, but whenever I added onions when cooking a meal, he would get angry and curse at me. So he has actually been making me cook for Hailey and not him.

I wanted to ignore his text, but after pondering on it, I decided to walk down the street to Hailey's house. When I entered the house, I saw Blake gripping Hailey's hand as he whispered soft murmurs to her. However, as soon as his gaze landed on me, his expression changed as his face darkened and he growled, “What took you so long to come? If she doesn't see a therapist right away, I don't know how much more traumatized she will become.” Hailey rubbed his arm softly as she pouted and murmured, “You don't need to worry about me, Blake. Don't let my condition come between the two of you. I know that she's never been fond of me.” He reprimanded me, “That's it, Amber! Do her laundry and tidy this place up. I can't mark a lazy she-wolf that doesn't know her duties!” As soon as he said that's he turned around and walked out of the house while pulling Hailey with him as he had her wrap her arm around his shoulders and supported her weight on his side. I stared at his back as he walked away and muttered to myself, “And I can't let a filthy, unfaithful he-wolf mark me.” I walked to her bedroom and glanced around the room to look for the laundry. Two towels that had a man's cum stains laid on the bed. I felt my heart clench in my chest. Was this why Blake has now been making excuses about rogue attacks late at night and needing to stay out late to stop them? So he goes down a few blocks away from us to Hailey's to sleep with her each night before coming back home to me. I saw her walk-in closet left open and noticed designer clothes along with designer bags and shoes. A week ago, I had wanted to buy a new scarf to keep me warm during the cold winter, so I told Blake about wanting it as my anniversary gift. He had narrowed his eyes at me as hate filled them and he yelled, “Nine years together isn't something to be happy about! I haven't even marked you yet for God's sake. Despicable! Wait until I mark you and then you'll celebrate. Concentrate on your pack duties instead of thinking of silly things. Celebrating our anniversary wouldn't make me want to mark you any sooner.” It wouldn't make him want to mark me any sooner and that wouldn't stop him from marking other she-wolves as his either. His ‘ideal mate’ as he had called her, Hailey must be the one that he liked the most. I mentally prepared myself and pulled my phone out of my hand bag then started making a video of the bedroom. After that, I walked out of the house and made my way back home. I was going to gather my things and get ready to leave. Even though Blake and I have been together for nine years, he had only given me two gifts – a hair comb and a set of hair products including shampoo, deep conditioner, leave-in conditioner, detangling lotion and moisturizer. I wasn't going to take them with me when he was cheating on me. It was almost like my relationship with Blake was a joke. My stuff in the house couldn't even fill my suitcase while Hailey's stuff in her house could fill five suitcases. As soon as I was finished packing, I dialed my close friend, Gina’s number who was in another pack. She picked up almost instantly and I felt my heart clench with pain as I said, “Gina, I've made a mistake. Giving up my position as the pack's financial secretary and living my life freely for Blake was the worst decision that I've ever made! I feel remorseful over this decision and I want to transfer to your pack to reunite with you again.” “You're so dumb for falling for his lies.” She said and hung up the call. I stared at the wall as I felt my heart break from pain. I remembered how she had told me countless times how Blake was just playing with my feelings and how a look of disapproval stayed on her face when she left the pack. My heart broke even more as I remembered the memories and I clutched my chest. I crumbled to the floor as my mood turned dark. That was when my phone beeped. I got up from the floor on shaky knees and I grabbed my phone from the bed. I checked the notification to see that it was a message from Gina. She had sent me the pack transfer form and her pack's location. She sent another message that read, [The transfer form needs to be filled and signed within a day and sent back for approval. The approval would take only a day.] That meant that I could leave in two days. I typed and sent her, [Thank you.] A laugh tore out from my throat as I felt overwhelmed with joy. I would finally stop wasting my life on Blake and be free. This called for a run. I wanted to celebrate, so I placed my phone on the bed and made my way to the front door. As soon as I was out of the house, I shifted into my wolf form and started running into the woods beside the pack house. I howled, finally feeling free. The wild animal in me let loose and ran faster. The full moon loomed above in the sky, lighting my path. Suddenly, I disappeared from the woods and appeared in front of Hailey's house. Did I teleport? How did I gain new powers? I looked into the house’s window and saw her standing in the kitchen in front of the counter and then I saw Blake walk behind her to wrap his arms around her then pull her back to his front. I had seen enough, so I turned around and ran back home.

I slept alone that night because Blake didn't return home. When he saw that I didn't follow his instructions to act as Hailey's servant, he stopped answering my mindlinks and blocked me on Facebook and all social media. I decided to ignore him too and made my way to my father's house to pack my remaining stuff from there. I didn't know what Blake had said to my father to make him so angry. When I climbed out of the taxi, I saw him walking towards me. He scanned the area for Blake. When he realized that I was alone, his expression changed as a scowl appeared on his face. He shouldn't have cared about Blake because Blake would never visit his home ever again. He always thought that we were too low class to be his concern. Dad stopped in front of me as he asked in a stern voice, “Are you and Blake back together?” “No, we're never getting back together.” I muttered in a firm voice. After I said those words, my father threw a kick at my calf, making me groan and wince in pain as I squatted down and held onto my leg. He looked like he didn't have enough, and pushed me, making me fall to the ground. “Shift!” He growled at me and shifted into his wolf form. I had no choice, but to shift. He opened his mouth wide and clamped his sharp teeth around my neck. He always did this as a punishment whenever I had angered him. I let him do it since he was my father. Besides, it would be hard to fight him off since he was bigger and stronger even though I had werewolf powers unlike him. The pack members around us stared and pointed at us. After doing that for a while, he let go and aimed for my shoulder. He bit down hard, making me groan in pain. He has never bitten before, and I knew that he was very angry to have bitten me. As he pulled away, I heard his mindlink as he said, “You’re a disgrace.” I felt tears brim in my eyes and felt my tummy tighten in pain at his words and actions. He head butted me, making me skid across the ground and stop a few feet away from him. He walked over to me as he shifted back to his human form. I stayed in wolf form as I waited for the bite wound to heal since we healed faster in wolf form. He pointed fingers at me as he growled, “I learnt what happened from Blake. Don't you know that getting a he-wolf like him to want you as his mate is good karma that takes thousands of years to earn, yet you couldn't get him stay with you? Envious, lazy and acting like a whore, you're worse than a disgrace!” “I'll tell you this, you better try whatever you can to get Blake to mark you whether it's by treating him like he means the world to you or acting as his maid or I'll disown you!” He yelled as he glared at me. I shifted back to my human form as my wound has healed, but I was still weak and it was from his words, not from his punishment. Tears dripped down my cheeks as I remained speechless. My father only stopped hurling insults at me when snow started falling from the sky. He turned around and made his way to the house. I followed him, but turned back around when he heard my footsteps. A growl rumbled from my father's throat, threatening me to stay away. He then turned back around and went inside then locked the door. I stared at the door as I thought of how to fix the situation. A few minutes later, he unlocked the door, opened it and pushed my stuff out onto the porch; a box of books and awards, a traveling bag and a small suitcase then kicked them off the porch. “Leave this instant! I would never accept you back unless you get back together with Blake!” He growled at me. He threw one of my accounting textbooks at me and it slammed against my stomach, making me couch loudly as I held onto my tummy. He turned around and slammed the door shut. I squatted down and grabbed the textbook then placed it in the box of books. I checked the stuff inside the book as I wanted to save my past experiences. Suddenly, a new model Mustang stopped in front of of our lawn and the driver's seat door opened. Blake climbed out with a small, black blanket in his hand. He walked over to me and caught my arm then dragged me to his car as I struggled against him. He glanced me as he muttered, “About time you learned, Amber! I'm the only he-wolf that will take you as a mate. So stop being stubborn and come back to the house with me. Repent the right way to Hailey and I will mark you.” He wrapped the blanket around me and I saw its tag with the a brand name on it, [Hailey.] She must have had them made for her like that so that people would think that she was a fashion designer. I didn't answer Blake, I just stared at the road ahead through the windshield as I thought about my father's harsh words. Pain and sadness enveloped me. I used to take Blake as my rock and would go to him whenever I was in distress and tell him all that was bothering me. However, he had exploited my vulnerabilities. He was never my safe haven and he didn't deserve my heart. Leaving him was the first step towards reclaiming my life. As I continued pondering on my love life, Blake's phone beeped, indicating a message coming through. He checked it and as he started typing, the phone started ringing. “Where are you? All the pack members at the pack office are eager for your arrival, Alpha Blake.” With my heightened werewolf hearing, I heard a she-wolf's voice say as soon as he answered the call. She added, “They're mocking me and talking about how the pack company's Gala party can't have only the Alpha's mate coming to the party when the Alpha isn't even present. I don't even have anymore excuses to give.” Blake glanced at me as his face slipped into a cold mask. He stayed silent for a few seconds as if thinking it over. It looked like he wanted to leave me to go to the pack company’s Gala, but he seemed to have a change of heart as he sighed and asked me, “Come with me to our pack company’s Gala party. You agree, right?” Blake has never let me attend the pack company's Gala party or any event that the company was hosting before even when I was working at the company. He said that he didn't want any he-wolf to get any ideas when he sees me at a party even though it was a formal party. I caressed my shoulder where my father had bitten me, realizing that it wasn't hurting anymore, I nodded steadily and I replied, “Sure.”

第6章

When we reached the pack company's Gala party, I was shivering from the snow that I was exposed to back at my father's lawn. My clothes also had snow on them and I dusted some of, but some stuck by and some melted on my clothes. Blake walked faster, maintaining a safe distance from me. It was like he was embarrassed to be seen with me. Hailey's lips tipped downwards and a frown fell on her brows as her gaze landed on me. Using my werewolf hearing, I heard Blake murmur to her, “I don't pity her, I want to put her in her place. I'll make everyone see that without me, her life is more miserable than a rat's.” Even though I heard their taunts and saw their puzzled gazes, I was indifferent. Maybe it was because Blake has put me through so much emotional pain that I didn't care about what people thought of me anymore. I saw a security guard by a door on my right and I walked over as I asked, “Hi, can I get a change of clothes? I know that there are clothes kept in cases of emergency when I used to work for this company.” “Yeah, I'll get you another dress.” She replied with a smile and then walked into through another door. A few minutes later, she called me into the room and handed me a black dress. I took it and she left me to change in the room. After I had changed, I pushed the dress that I took off into my large handbag and walked out of the room. I had just sat down at a table and was looking around the party when my phone beeped. I pulled it out of my handbag and saw a message from Gina. It read, [Your pack transfer has been approved and I have talked to our Alpha about giving you a position in the pack. He agreed and he said that he would be interviewing you for either the pack financial secretary position or the pack warrior position since I told him about your previous work experience and fighting skills.] I read the next message that came through aloud, “I can't wait for interview. I would choose the financial secretary position for you!” I felt someone touch my hand and I looked up to see Blake. A confused look showed on his face as he asked, “What are you talking about? An interview? Are you going somewhere?” I shook my head and hid the truth, “Financial advisor interview.” His confusion dissipated as a look of understanding appeared on his face and he replied, “I can see you doing that. Besides, your Dad kicked you out, you have nowhere else to go. The snow isn't falling anymore, and you're not doing anything at this party. Just go back to the pack house. Remember to put my blanket in the washing machine once you reach home.” I stared at him as I muttered to myself, “Really?” I pulled off the blanket from around me and placed it on the table. Haikey kept her gaze on me as she rubbed her chin. After a few seconds, she pressed on, “We have to help her find a taxi since she didn't come with her car.” “Sure.” Blake agreed as he smiled fondly at her. We walked out of the company building and stood beside the road. Out of nowhere, Hailey crashed into me, making me crash against the rusty, old telephone booth that was beside me. “Oh no! Amber!” Blake yelled as he tried to pull me back. However, he stopped because Hailey screamed as she wobbled on her feet like she was also going to crash into the telephone booth. He watched the glass of the telephone booth break and rain on me as he grabbed Hailey's shoulders to steady her then turned her away and moved her away from the crash. The small glass shards stuck to my skin, drawing a bit of blood. I had fallen onto all fours as the glass rained on me and that made me feel even more wretched. I stood up on shaky legs just as Blake pulled out small glass particles from Hailey's hair and brushed her hair back from her face tenderly.

Blake turned his gaze to me and a look of remorse showed in his eyes as he muttered, “Amber, are you alright? Why don't I take you to the pack hospital?” Before I could reply, Hailey tugged on his arm as she batted her eyelashes pitifully and said in a soft tone, “Alpha Blake! You said that you would spend the entire day with me. It's our ‘the first time our eyes met’ anniversary. You can't just go with her and leave me here, can you?” He looked torn between the two of us as he ran a hand through his brown hair and groaned. I made the decision for him as I said, “I can take myself to the pack hospital. You can't just leave the pack company's party when you're the Alpha.” He looked glad that I spoke up and replied, “Yeah, you're right. Make sure you look after yourself. I can buy you your favourite cookie sandwiches once I return to the pack house.” I have never liked cookie sandwiches, and from Hailey's posts on Facebook, she was the one that liked them. However, I didn't bother telling him that. He definitely didn't care, so there was no point. He has always shown me that I was unworthy of his love. Well, I have realized my worth now and I was leaving before he destroyed my life any further. As soon as I reached the pack hospital, I was directed to the emergency room where a pack doctor immediately attended to me. He took out the glass shards that were stuck into my skin and the wound started healing. As the shards separated my skin, it felt like our love's silhouette vanished, leaving only shadows. The next afternoon, I was sitting in the living room when I heard Blake's mindlink. “You're not replying up my messages on Facebook. What's the reason?” He stopped mindlinking me a long time ago, so I was surprised. “You blocked me, remember?” I asked back in a steady voice. He sounded nervous as he stuttered, “I-uh- it's not like that. Anyway, I'm coming back to the pack house soon. I have cookie sandwiches and Domino's chips with me. I also bought you a new mates bracelet. I might have neglected your feelings once before, but I won't do it again.” He neglected me more than once, but I didn't say that. Instead, I said in a steady voice, “You won't meet me here.” What a pity, he didn't seem to hear me as he stayed quiet. I still had two hours before my flight. I grabbed his iPad which he has always kept hidden and typed in his name as the password. It didn't work, so I tried Hailey's, but it didn't work either. I stopped and thought for a while then typed Hailey's full name. It worked and I was able to see everything that was on his iPad. I stared at the iPad, waiting for Blake. Thirty minutes passed and my phone beeped. I checked it to see a Facebook post from Hailey. It was a video of her and someone sitting at a restaurant, having lunch. She didn't show the person's face, but I knew it was Blake. She grabbed his hand and raised it as she said, “Look what Alpha Blake just got us! Matching diamond mates bracelets with our names!” Her and Blake's wrists had diamond brackets wrapped around them, each with a leather tag that had, ‘Blake and Hailey’ written on it. I shook my head as a sarcastic grin graces my lips. I logged into his Facebook account and posted about me being his mate and how he had betrayed me by being with Hailey. I added their pictures and videos together which I had gotten from Hailey's page and tagged all pack members that he was friends with including the pack elders and neighboring pack's Alphas. I then changed the iPad's password and took my stuff then made my way out of the pack house to go to the airport. As I waited in line to board my flight, I heard Blake's mindlinks. “Why did you post that with my account? Where are?” “What's wrong with you?” “Answer me!” “I, Luna Amber, reject you, Alpha Blake!” I yelled. I knew that he wouldn't feel any pain because he hasn't marked me yet, but my rejection has severed our mate bond. “No! You can't do that!” Blake yelled, sounding as angry as I thought he would be. I ignored him as he continued speaking to me through mind link. When he saw that I wasn't responding anymore, he started calling and texting my phone. However, I didn't care anymore. I blocked Blake’s number and on every social media that we were connected to.
